The Core Problem

Generative models are no longer simply tools that an operator takes, writes a command for, and executes. They are becoming autonomous entities in networks — they can:

  • Automatically generate phishing emails for each target
  • Write and optimize malware on the fly
  • Adapt to defense systems
  • Work for hours without human involvement

Why This Is New

There is a big difference between: "a hacker wrote malware" and "an LLM writes malware that adapts itself to defense systems." In the second case, even if the person is caught, the system continues to attack and evolve.

The rapid evolution of LLM services (new versions every month) expands the spectrum of threats. What was impossible a month ago is written in a single line today.

Consequences for Monitoring

Established network monitoring systems look for signatures and anomalies. But AI attacks generate new anomalies that signature-based tools have never seen. We need systems that themselves learn LLM behavior under attack and detect it without explicit signatures.

What It Means

Security is entering a new era. While companies invested in WAF, SIEM, and antivirus, cyber threats evolved toward autonomy and generativity. Defense requires not just blocking known attacks, but learning to see AI agent behavior in real time.
